Amazon is hiring an Area Manager for its Grocery Distribution Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. The selected candidate will lead a team of hourly employees and engage with team members during their shifts to maintain high standards of safety, quality, attendance, and performance.
The role also contributes to meeting customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered at the right time and to the right location. Grocery Distribution Centers handle fresh food and specialty products and supply Amazon Fresh and fulfillment centers supporting same-day delivery services.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Support, mentor, and motivate team members.
- Manage safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and customer delivery commitments.
- Lead hourly employees and maintain performance standards throughout assigned shifts.
- Collaborate with Safety, Operations Integration, Loss Prevention, and Human Resources teams.
- Develop plans with support teams to meet business objectives.
- Focus on safety across stocking and sorting activities.
- Help develop best practices that enhance site operations and may improve processes across the wider network.
- Support reliable distribution of grocery products to Amazon Fresh and fulfillment centers.
🎓 Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon blue badge/FTE experience.
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, shift, and work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- 1+ year of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean techniques.
🏭 Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
- Continuously climb and descend stairs.
- Work in environments with varying noise levels and temperatures.
- Grocery facilities may include refrigerated environments, while some delivery facilities include outside loading areas.
- Availability for flexible schedules, including weekends and/or overnight shifts.
