📌 Job Description
Battery Smart is looking for a hands-on underwriting and operations leader to own Underwriting, Eligibility and Onboarding Operations.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who has built or scaled underwriting processes in a startup environment and can balance growth, risk, fraud and portfolio quality.
The role combines underwriting, risk management, onboarding operations, portfolio monitoring, process governance, team leadership and data-driven decision making.
💼 Key Responsibilities
- Build and improve underwriting and eligibility frameworks.
- Define risk criteria, approval and decline rules, limits and deposits.
- Own KYC, document verification, fraud detection and onboarding operations.
- Track portfolio performance, defaults, early churn and asset loss.
- Work with Product and Data teams on scorecards, rule engines and automated decisioning.
- Build scalable processes, SOPs and operational governance.
- Lead and scale high-performing teams.
- Drive operational efficiency, TAT and SLA improvements.
🎓 Eligibility & Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong hands-on underwriting, risk or eligibility experience.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Experience building or scaling processes from 0→1.
- Strong understanding of risk, fraud, KYC and portfolio metrics.
- Experience managing teams and day-to-day operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with Excel, SQL/Python and data-driven decision making.
- Startup, Fintech or Mobility experience is highly preferred.
